Rehabilitation Through Sporting Activities

Our aim is to show medically discharged veterans the art of the possible through a variety of outdoor sports and challenges. Whether suffering from physical or psychological injuries or a combination of both, facing the challenge of a sport helps to restore lost confidence and builds fitness leading to greater independence. Learning to re-socialise, a skill often lost after injury and isolation, is a vital step in ongoing rehabilitation into civilian life and if possible employment. Engaging with other veterans in sporting activities provides the encouragement, support and comradeship that is lost after being medically discharged.

Supporting Wounded Veterans Canada is committed to aiding the mental and physical health journey for our veterans. SWVC partners with leading adaptive sports organizations to provide opportunities for veterans to enter sporting events, with specially trained experts, and to gain new skills and forge friendships. Whether skiing, golfing, bicycling or doing water sports these activities are a vital first step in the recovery process.
